About this Item
Typescript letter to P. Sheen of 11 Chatfield Avenue, Balwyn, Victoria. Typed on paper headed with the Australian crest, with "Prime Minister, Canberra" at the right, 8x10". Date stamped 4 Mar (indistinct) but about 1963. Signed Robert Menzies. The text responds to a letter Sheen wrote 27th Dec 1962 regarding the proposed tax deduction allowed for travelling expenses - Sheen believes a deduction should be allowed for students who pay their own university fees. Menzies states that Sheen has misunderstood that this was a certain thing, stating that the Government "receives each year a great number of requests for taxation concessions." and states that the Government will consider his request during the preparation of the budget for 1963-64.
