18 autograph letters and 14 typed letters signed from the illustrious illustrator and author to his long-time publisher at Jonathan Cape. He writes in characteristically meticulous detail about drawings he is preparing, his work on a book by Joan Aiken, fees for work, his inability to give Cape his undivided attention as he has a burst of work for Penguin. Some letters offer details about work-in-progress: the "finished drawings [for `Clown'] are not completely coloured in, and the photocopies have also found the colour difficult to cope with. They're too light, and almost everything from light brown to orange comes out as yellow. But you can see what is going on." [Together with] an original drawing (26 x 20 cms., black ink and blue crayon on A3 paper) being a draft for the cover design of "Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes" (Cape, 1994). [Together with] various faxes and photocopies of illustrations and a first-day cover set of Blake designed Christmas Carol postage stamps for Christmas 1993. Drawing folded lengthways but all in excellent condition. Seller Inventory # 20251
