About this Item
Rust colored crafted paper cover. A beautiful copy. Slight fading on spine and small worn spot at middle. Nearly flawless inside. If ever opened, opened very gently. Still very tight. 8" x 11 3/4". Slipcase is of lighter rust color than book cover with fading, but otherwise nice. Slipcase is of Near Fine condition. With an introduction by Isak Dinesen. Illustrated with lithographs in color and signed by Paul Hogarth. Copy #128 of a limited fifteen hundred copies. From the typographic plan of Hans Schmoller. From the introduction "This book about an African farm, has captured the air of the land, and gives forth from its pages the atmosphere of the great widths. Deeply human as it is in its feelings and views, it still vibrates with the magic splendor of the African sky." Further "we may forget the plot of these books, and the characters in them, and still they will be alive to us, like an experience in our own life; and the things within them will come back to us, from time to time, less in the manner of a narrative or a picture, than in the manner of a tune or an odor. For we have breathed the air of their world." We, at Coalesce Bookstore, thank our customers and supporters, acknowledging that what we do would not be possible were it not for each of you. Books over 2.2 lbs require additional shipping cost outside US, approximately $40USD ($25USD for Canada). Seller Inventory # RS.SHOL.african.1961.6
