Signed by the author. Fine green cloth hardcover with bright gilt titles, 7 1/4 x 5 inches, 128 clean pp., top edge gilt, others deckled, tight. John S. Mayfield's (of Syracuse University) address sticker on the back pastedown, two library "withdrawn" stamps on the back pastedown, but no other library matter or markings. Inscribed on the front free end paper, "With the Compliments and best wishes of the author, Tho Fleming Day, S. S. Prince George, Feb 15th 1909." The signature of Elizabeth Carson below it. Mayfield's code indicates that he purchased this in 1966. A collection of poems dedicated "To Those Who Love the Sea and its Ships."Thomas Fleming Day (1861-1927), b. Somerset, England; d. Harlem, New York. His parents emigrated to Long Island when Day was a child; he became a sailboat designer and racer, and was the founding editor of The Rudder, a periodical devoted to boats and sailing.
