folio [33x21cm]. ppvi 142. rebound in leather with the gilt leather from the original boards relaid. new end-papers, but retaining original front free end-paper with presentation inscription from the author to the Royal United Service Institution, and with the original book-plate of the Institution, also signed by the editor, re-instated to front paste-down. corner torn from page 15/16 without loss of text. a record of naval activity during the year, with each chapter representing one month's events. Each chapter contains 'Naval Topics', Naval Occurences', 'Honours and Rewards', 'Notes on Foreign Navies', and 'The Professional Literature and Science of the Month'. To each chapter is attached an appendix containing, 'A Chronology of Current Events', 'A Copy of Every Admiralty Circular Issued', 'The Movements of HM Ships at Home and Abroad', 'Notices of Prize Money Distributions', 'Personal Notes of the Month', and 'The Promotions, Retirements, Appointments, and Deaths of the Month'. I have been unable to discover much information on this annual work and no copies have been located in any of the major library holdings. It seems likely that this was the first issue, and the only other record I have found is a reference to an 1875 (or 6) edition. 019 018 1804. Seller Inventory # OBYRNERO024514
