Shows a central, horizontal fold to the sheet, very light tanning. Written by autograph collector, Frederick W. French to Cleveland, Ohio based book & autograph collector, Paul Lemperly (1858-1939), with mention of Eugene Field items then belonging to Lemperly. "200 Commonwealth Ave. My Dear Mr. Lemperly: Your kind postal card arrived & was soon followed by the little book you so kindly sent me- I found time to read it today & it is very bright & readable almost as horrible as Poe:- I send you with this a little book which I hope you have not got, but you seem to have nearly all of the limited books- It is a very prettily made little book & quite interesting I hope you will have a Merrie Christmas & Happy New Year. Your little book arrived most opportunately on Christmas day: I hear it intimated that your [Eugene] Field books &c will be dispersed. How I wish I could be at the sale, for altho' very fortunate in possessing many remembrances of him, I crave a few more. Sincerly Yours Fred. W. French. Wednesday Decr 25th 1891.".
