About this Item
("John Gould Fletcher") 1 page, London, 37 Crystal Palace Park Road, Jun 27, 1924 to F. H. Hooper, American Editor, History Our Own Times and American Editor of The Encyclopaedia Britannica. 9" x 7". Paper watermarked "Basildon Bond". Very good (short tear upper right corner). Fletcher returns the proof of his article "The New Poetry in the New Century" and express his displeasure on cuts that were made, adding a comment he wants restored. In the September 4, 1925 issue of the "Menorah Journal" Fletcher accused the Britannica of being anti-semitic when "practically every Jew was cut out" of his article on poets and authors. Fletcher (1886-1950) was an Imagist poet, critic and art authority. He was first Southern poet to win the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Seller Inventory # 2221447
