From the introduction: "Ce catalogue est destiné à commémorer l'Exposition des manuscrits à peintures d'art français, organisée à la Grenville Library du British Muséum. Le règlement du British Muséum interdit le prêt et pour celle raison ces manuscrits n'ont pu figurer à la grande Exposition d'Art français, à Burlinglon House, Londres, en janvier-mars -1932. Sauf deux exceptions (Nos 26 et 39 du catalogue), ces manuscrits appartiennent aux fonds permanents du Musée Britannique et bien des visiteurs français à l'Exposition à la Grenville Library ont constaté avec surprise la richesse du Musée dans cette branche spéciale."
