Hardback book bound in brown cloth-covered boards with gilt title on the spine. Book has light wear at corners and spine with foxing inside front and back gutters. Dust jacket is price clipped has soiling with edge wear, rubs along spine and areas of foxing. Book is SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and also INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR'S DAUGHTER. Book "centers on two soldiers, one negro, an American and one white, an Englishman, who have taken refuge from the enemy in a bombed church in Italy during World War II". Book is the first inter-racial morality play in a New York City Episcopal church. Play was enacted on September 28, 1952 and finally printed in hardback for the first time in 1954. 40 pages.
