Inscribed first printing of Parrish's Newbery Honor book, an unusually complex nonsense ABC in chapter-book form, illustrated by the author. 11.5'' x 8.5''. Original yellow cloth stamped in black. In original unclipped ($2.75) pictorial dust jacket. Black and white illustrations throughout. 184 pages. Inscribed by Parrish on half-title: "With daffodils and delight and / doughnuts (if she likes them) / and daisies and dogs to / dear Dorothy, with love. / From Anne (Parrish)." Light edgewear and rubbing to boards, top edge lightly foxed, upper corner gently bumped. Jacket with light edgewear and soil, toning to spine and upper margins.
