Yellow cloth. 8vo. 116pp. Pictorial green dust jacket. Illustrated by Amy Jones. Signed on the flyleaf by both author and illustrator. First edition (stated). Prance was the youngest horse on a traveling merry-go-round that went from town to town. But as time went on, he felt an emptiness in his heart; of all the children that rode on his back, not one could he call his special friend. And he wanted a friend so much. The author was a prolific writer of children's books, many with an animal theme. She also wrote a memoir about her parent's early lives and theatrical careers, including "Mother Wore Tights" which was made into a 1940s Oscar winning musical. A good copy with some staining to the yellow cloth covers. The text is very good with some light soiling. The jacket is good with some small chips and tears to the front panel and spine tips and some fading to the spine. It has the original price of $2.50 on the front flap. Scarce.
