Top edge gilt. Color frontispiece with tissue guard. "This work is to some extent based on the chapters relating to Dutch pottery in the handbook by the authoress on the earthenware in the Nederlandsch Museum voor Geschiedenis en Kunst (Rijksmuseum) at Amsterdam, published under the title "Oud Aardewerk," of which the first edition appeared in 1917 and a second in 1920." (Foreword). Includes chapters on the process of manufacture, red earthenware and tiles, Dutch Maiolica of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Delft earthenware, the "Rose" factory, the Muffle-Kiln, the Red Teapots of Delft, and other topics. with one hundred and twelve illustrations of which nine are in color. Some wear along edges of binding two inch closed tear at tail of spine and somewhat scuffed along edges and joints. Bottom edge uncut.
