SIGNED by Elie Wiesel directly to the title page. 1st issue DJ - Rear of DJ begins with Advance comments about this book. 7 blurbs about Night. No mention of any other titles. Inside rear flap of DJ has a picture of a young Elie Wiesel wearing glasses with photo credit to Attar Photographers. Original issued black and white DJ with $3.00 price intact on DJ flap. Later DJs have a different photo of Elie Wiesel without glasses and an Arthur W. Wang photo credit. Black cloth boards with silver titles on spine. Later early copies have gray cloth. the 1st edition, 1st printing is slightly taller than later printings. the 1st printing is 8.5 inches tall and early non first printings are 8.25 inches tall. 1st printings are slightly less wide at 5 1/2 inches vs. 5 3/4 inches for later printings. Slightly softened corners. Faint moisture stain to black cloth along rear corner. Book is tight and clean as are endpapers. Small textural area at corner of fly where bookseller code was erased. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Scarce DJ has a couple of closed edge tears and 2 open chips along rear bottom edge, the larger being a 1 inch chip. rubbing to DJ crown. An incredibly important title in the rare 1st printing in a 1st issue DJ, SIGNED by Nobel laureate, Elie Wiesel. A landmark title.signed in the true and stated first American printing from 1960.
