About this Item
[moderately worn but solid book, a bit of staining and soiling to edges of text block, some foxing/discoloration to endpapers; jacket is worn and soiled, with various tears and chips, missing about 1-1/2 inches at bottom of spine, a bit of paper loss at top of spine]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the ffep: "With love to / Caroline[?] Vickers / from / Gertrude Capen Whitney / Augusta Georgia / June 1920." Novel concerning "two charming, exquisitely wrought out love-affairs [that] parallel each other in the story, whose scene is laid in and old and wealthy New England hill town and partly in the sunny Southland." But there's also this: "Psychic phenomena that are now recognized factors in life's expression give Mrs. Whitney's book almost an occult flavor and the elucidation of these strange and mysterious occurrences is convincingly clear." (The author was a Unitarian, for what that's worth.) Signed by Author NOISBN. Seller Inventory # 20970
