Folio 14"x17". Eight loose individual lithograph prints in publishers hard case. Each print is limited to 1000, numbered and signed; this being set #109. The 8 Mountain Men depicted are: Kit Carson, Jedediah Smith, James Beckwourth, James Cayman, Tom Fitzpatrick, Joseph Meek, James Bridger, and John "Liver-Eating" Johnson. Each print has a bio sheet attached to reverse and with a "Seal of Authenticity" on the front. Two of the portraits are missing the gold sticker from its place on the bottom of the portrait. It was sold by subscription originally, with 20 lithographs planned. Only 8 were completed. Included is a letter from the publisher announcing they had fallen behind schedule. In consideration, they sent out to subscribers an additional color print of "Bridger on the Yellowstone" - the cover portrait of the book. Book has minor wear to corners.
