Very Good (little fading & tiny stain covers; contents clean & tight). 12mo., vellum spine & patterned dark-gray boards, stamped in gilt, six page introduction and then an eight-page essay on Heine. Browne's book "That Man Heine" was published in 1929 Signed, Limited Edition of 400 numbered copies, of which this is #22. Also with a nice signed presentation from Browne on the front endpaper: "To my good friend, Robert Rinder, all good wishes from Albert M. Bender." Albert Maurice Bender (1866-1941) was a leading patron of the arts in San Francisco in the 1920s and 1930s. He played a key role in the early career of Ansel Adams and Diego Rivera and was one of their first American patrons. A lover of literature from an early age, Bender began collecting rare books and helped create the Book Club of California in 1912. Seller Inventory # 56879
