First edition with scarce signature by this important theologian and scholar who was a major influence on generations of civil rights leaders and Black spiritual leaders to come. Signed under his printed name on the title page. Overall excellent condition. From the home of a tobacco smoker, with requisite toning and very faint odor, neither of which is overtly offensive. Jacket, besides aforementioned light toning, which is mostly at the edges, is clean and intact. Three very faint vertical indents to the front panel which are fairly unobtrusive. Some chipping and fraying by the crown of the spine of the DJ and a small closed tear by the foot, both on the front panel, while on the back there is a closed tear and some creasing not far from the spine edge - some other light wear, see photos, now protected in mylar. Binding is solid, square, sound. Interior is clean and free of marks besides the signature. One page dog-eared, else no noticeable wear. Seller Inventory # ABE-1699322870129
