About this Item
Formerly the property of Rosemary Goad, who was James's editor from the start of her career until retirement. Reprints of the first 3 Adam Dalgliesh novels, comprising: The 2015 Faber Members Edition of Cover Her Face, with a handwritten postcard from P. D. James to Goad loosely inserted, in addition to the generic letter from Stephen Page to the Faber Members, which quotes Goad's initial assessment of James's debut novel, and 1976 Fingerprint Books editions of Unnatural Causes and A Mind To Murder, the former noting "Please return to: Rosemary Goad" to the front endpaper and with some minor editorial alterations and corrections, and the latter with Goad's "R. G." initials to the front endpaper. And lastly, a first edition of 'The Skull Beneath the Skin', the second of James's Cordelia Gray mysteries, which has minor pencil corrections by Goad throughout. The condition of the books is generally good, some minor marks and faint spots of foxing to the text blocks and light external marks and wear to the boards, the dust jackets all unclipped, with slight sunning to the spines, minor rubbing and a few nicks and short closed tears to the edges. A well provenanced little collection, marking an important literary association and providing insight into the editorial process. Seller Inventory # 6678
