Written with great charm and simplicity, it records the horticultural adventures, the discoveries of wild flowers and the little thrills that come to the country dweller. A lovely copy of this scarce book, containing 24 woodcuts by one of the great exponents of the art,John Farleigh. Fresh and near fine throughout in the original dustwrapper that is creased with a closed tear to the front panel and that lacks a large piece from the rear panel. On the plus side, the book is uniquely inscribed by the illustrator "To Stephen + Gertrude Spurrier from John Farleigh with best wishes Dec 1936". He mis-spelt the name for it was actually Steven Spurrier. Steven was a fellow illustrator of renown, whilst his wife Gertrude was a very gifted bookbinder. Rare and unique. Provenance: from the Spurrier family. Signed/dated confirmation of acquisition comes with the book. Seller Inventory # 004057
