Near Fine condition in a bright and shiny Near Fine dust jacket (only lightly rubbed). NO chips, tears, creases or fading. NOT price clipped ($24.95). Sharp corners. Square and tight. NOT a remainder. NOT a library discard. Bound in the original black boards, stamped in bright silver on the spine. From the dust jacket: "Who's the fastest 3-year-old fily, the best jockey, or the sharpest horseplayer of the modern year? Steve Davidowitz, who has seen and known them all, answers these provocative questions and dozens more, but that's just the beginning of the opinions and observers in THE BEST AND WORST OF THOROUGHBRED RACING. Davidowitz, a veteran reporter, columnist, and handicapper who has worked and gambled at racetracks from coast to coast, is a passionate lover of the racing game-and an equally passionate critic of its shortcomings. In addition to starting and settling arguments about the sport's most talented people and racehorses, Davidowitz takes aim at its rascals and reprobates and at an industry that too often fails to address and resolve its most troubling issues." From the publisher: "THE BEST AND WORST OF THOROUGHBRED RACING is a fascinating listing of the history of horseracing's most memorable moments. Every aspect of the game is covered in this unique collection. Whether it's legendary handicapper Pittsburgh Phil, top sire Storm Cat, or the renowned 1978 Belmont Stakes with Alydar and Affirmed the racing aficionado will have hundreds of entertaining racing data and anecdotes at his or her fingertips to feast upon.".
