Synopsis

Human cognition can be roughly divided into two parts: one shared by us human beings and other primates and the other is unique to humans. It is the unique part of humans that distinguishes us from other animals. How did this unique part come into being? The author believes that after humans broke up with other primates, perhaps some genetic events and the events of natural selection happened so that the humans identified their similar members as the actors who were much alike and had their intention. Eventually they considered them to be the same actors who could think as themselves. This new understanding of others revolutionized the nature of social interaction, including social learning. Therefore, the evolution took place in a unique cultural form in history. In this process, generations of children learn a variety of things from their predecessors in their developmental process, including certain materialized or symbolic artificial items, of course including tools and language, etc. Humans distinguished themselves from other primates for their unique cognitive skills.
