Una característica diferenciadora de esta tesis es la utilización de FPGAs en lugar de dispositivos de tipo microprocesador. Sin embargo, el empleo de FPGAs para el control de convertidores conmutados está poco sistematizado. Por ello se propone una metodología de diseño. También se aborda el diseño de reguladores discretos tanto por el lugar de las raíces como por el método de Truxal. Posteriormente se ofrecen soluciones a cuatro problemas concretos que surgen en el control de convertidores CA/CC y CC/CC: lazos de corriente, lazos de tensión en corrección del factor de potencia, aseguramiento del modo de conducción discontinuo en convertidores bidireccionales y generación de señales de disparo en convertidores multifase. Por último, se trata la verificación del controlador mediante simulación, que ha de ser mixta analógica-digital.
