Daniel Wildenstein (1917-2001) �tait historien d'art et membre de l'Acad�mie des Beaux-Arts (Paris) depuis 1971. Il dirigeait depuis 1939 les galeries Wildenstein de New York, Londres et Tokyo et les revues internationales Arts (de 1956 � 1962) et Gazette des Beaux-Arts (depuis 1963). Cofondateur de la Fondation Wildenstein en 1970 (rebaptis�e Wildenstein Institute en 1984), il a encourag� plusieurs expositions de renomm�e internationale. Daniel Wildenstein dirigeait �galement l'�laboration des catalogues raisonn�s d'artistes des XVIIIe, XIXe et XXe si�cles. Autorit� reconnue dans le domaine de l'impressionnisme, il a publi� les catalogues de l'oeuvre complet de Gauguin, Manet et Monet.
