BREAKS begins exactly where the first book in the Corpus Christi Suspense Series, MISSING, ends when two sisters find each other on the same bus heading to Arkansas. The Missing Doctor has quit going by the name Rhonda Collins and resumed the name Sandra Lewis. Her sister has no idea that her sister had appropriated her name. The two women stir things up in the little town of Harmon, which has its own missing woman. Sandra thinks she has found true love, but frets about what Wayne will think of her if she tells him about her past. Rhonda finds a date within her first six hours in Harmon and so it goes with her. They find one of their sisters, Rainey, who prefers to distance herself from them. Mama is in the next town, but she only remembers giving birth to her first daughter, Rhonda. Meanwhile in Chicago Brain Cavendish, as he and his family eat Thanksgiving dinner, is arrested for manufacturing false documents. In Corpus Christi detective Maria Gonzalez works to have the case against the missing doctor reopened as she hopes to nail both the phony doctor and the one who supplied her false credentials. Her partner, Stan Belkin, says she’s on her own is she pursues this. Running low on money, Sandra plans to return to Corpus Christi to reclaim all her assets. What she doesn’t know, because she deleted a phone message without listening to it towards the end of MISSING, is that all her assets have been frozen. Rhonda must become Sandra to claim what was left to that name in the will; and Sandra becomes the one sister they haven’t found, Midge, possibly the missing woman. Sister Rainey and her twelve-year old daughter, Andrea, decide to go along to Texas for Spring Break. The four plus a disgruntled cat, George, take off an unforgettable adventure in Corpus Christi. They will have some good breaks and some bad breaks as Spring Break blossoms in. South Texas.
