The Conveyancing Protocol is the Law Society's new 'preferred practice' for conveyancing transactions of freehold and leasehold residential property. The detailed steps of the Protocol and the new general obligations have been carefully drafted to assist solicitors to: - communicate openly with the parties involved in the transaction - maintain high standards of conveyancing - meet the necessary legal and regulatory requirements - agree timescales and reduce delays - streamline the process of conveyancing - adopt a common approach. Compliance with the Protocol is mandatory for any firms accredited under the Conveyancing Quality Scheme.
