In this sweet story about friendship, Catherine Rayner’s wonderful depictions of her ursine heroes are elegant yet also playful and child-like (not least in their initial stroppiness and obstinacy). Her gorgeous images also perfectly capture the serene beauty of the natural landscape and its soft dreamy colours, from the dark blue-green shades of an echoey cave to the magical glow creating by the Aurora Borealis Northern lights. About the Author:

Award winning author and illustrator, Catherine Rayner, was born in Harrogate and now lives in Edinburgh. She has a BA Hons in Visual Communication and illustration from Edinburgh College of Art. Winner of the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal 2009 for her second book, Harris Finds His Feet, Catherine was also awarded the Best New Illustrator Award at the Booktrust Early Years Awards in 2006, for Augustus and His Smile. She regularly exhibits her artwork in galleries all over Scotland, and illustrates her own range of cards.
