"Forbidden Rites" deals with the subject of traditional rather than Wiccan witchcraft, though it can be used by anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge. It takes the reader on a journey through an initiates period of self assessment, with visualisations, practical work, anecdote, ritual and power control. It teaches the reader about the Goddess, God, the festivals and tools that you will need. It suggests the best way of making them, and details the use of gems, herbs and oils, runes, amulets, formularies, and familiaries. "Forbidden Rites" is very comprehensive, packed with well-researched information and can serve as a reference work when the initiation period has ended.

Review:
It gives me great pleasure to endorse this book. It manages to be at the same time practical, lucid, helpful, responsible, honest, and at times very moving. --Ronald Hutton, Professor of Historical Studies, Bristol University

We started by saying that we would recommend this to any novice, but with the humour we have to say that we feel that many witches of longstanding would gain benefit from reading this book. --Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone, Authors A Witches Bible, A Witches Goddess and Progressive Witchcraft

This very readable book gives a well balanced overview of the writers approach to this particular strand of the Craft. There is much for both the novice and the more experienced practitioner to contemplate, with well structured chapters dealing with a very wide range of subjects. The books extensive nature encourages further research and acts as a spring board for the enquiring mind. A excellent addition to any library, large or small. --Simon Costin, Director of the Musuem of British Folklore
