About the Author:
Christopher Monroe Peterson was born in 1960 in Talladega, Alabama. Spending the first nine years of his life in the bustling 'Rocket City' of Huntsville, Alabama, Chris, along with his brothers and sisters were raised in the Catholic community. Chris' father's career in the restaurant industry brought the young family to Birmingham in 1968 where the first of Bob Peterson's franshised El Palacio Mexican - American Restaurants took flight. Through the years, Chris would learn the brand and grow with his father's locations through the southeast, assisting in the day to day operation. As El Palacio's popularity grew, so did Chris' own family and outside interest . An avid fan of music and film with close attention on those performing comedy on screen and stage, the young father and dedicated service industry worker tried his chops at an open mic one evening in the early 1990's . The applause stemming from at least one of his ten curiously dark takes on life was all it took to get the ham cooking inside Chris to hit the road. After decades of dedication to Palacio, he took the plunge and hit the regional road, singing (standing up) for his supper. The acceptance from the crowds and encouragement from comic masters of the stage, Todd Yohn, Darryl Rhoades, Tim Wilson to name but a few, would see Chris on a successful 12 year run . As often is the case with life on the road, reality and the mortgage at home came calling, along with the end of Chris' marriage of 16 years. Realizing the first time new born daughter Lacey smiled that smile at Daddy in 1983, Chris knew deep in his heart that Father duties came first. Putting his rubber chicken back in the closet, Chris rejoined his Palacio employees and stayed under the shade of the neon sombrero until his father's retirement from the business in 2001 . Starting anew, Chris had to wake up a bit earlier in the mornings as he joined a McDonald's franchise in Birmingham. Never too far from the traveling bug he enjoyed as a youngster and as a stand up comic, Chris in the years to come, including present day, hits the road to catch some serenity between the beach and the Bed and Breakfasts'. At this writing, Chris' days of single fatherhood are coming to close as he is engaged, seeing his son Ethan through his senior year of high school. Daughter Lacey's smile can now be shared through her own precious daughter Jayden's sunshine . Chris hopes to share his life and times through less stressful work these days as an Author
