OUT OF WINTER is a personal account of how a father's sudden illness affects a family fraught by conflict over many years.
It charts the process of grief which follows his death in 2008, and that of Carol Lee's mother only eight weeks later. Carol Lee is a courageous writer. This book is both tender and tough-minded in its record of one woman's day by day journey through a universal experience.
What a beautifully written book: sensitive without being mawkish. Essential reading for anyone watching their parents reach the inevitable and and struggling to cope.
