Created by Brenda Keogh and Stuart Naylor, Concept Cartoons have been thoroughly researched in classrooms around the world. Simple cartoon-style drawings present learners with their own misconceptions and generate discussion and argument. They are remarkably easy to use in the classroom as a part of normal teaching.
The resource contains 120 Concept Cartoons covering the main areas of science. Each Concept Cartoon has a blank speech bubble to encourage learners to add additional ideas to the discussion. Every Concept Cartoon comes with background text, written in pupil-friendly language, to suggest possible follow up activities and to explain the science behind the different alternatives.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This Revised Edition book replaces the original Concept Cartoons in Science Education book.

Millgate House Education Ltd is a small independent company, established in 1996 by Brenda Keogh and Stuart Naylor.
Since then it has gained a national and international reputation as a source of original ideas for teaching and learning, research, high quality professional development and consultancy, as well as making a significant contribution to projects to promote public involvement in science.
Brenda and Stuart have developed and managed several national professional development programmes that have had a significant impact on teaching, learning and assessment in schools. These include the ConCISE project, the Active Assessment project and the PUPPETS project. Initially these were focused on science, but more recently they have also included mathematics. Brenda and Stuart's influential work means that they are in demand in the UK and beyond for keynotes, workshops and consultancy for schools, teacher training organisations, professional organisations and education ministries. They have now been joined by Jane Turner, a highly skilled practitioner in primary education who is leading the Primary Science Quality Mark, and by Jo Moules and Jo Horlock, who both have outstanding reputations for professional development and consultancy, particularly in secondary schools.
To support our professional development programmes we publish innovative resources that give direct support to classroom teachers and trainee teachers. Our portfolio of publications breaks new ground professionally, including publications related to the original Concept Cartoon project as well as a range of other materials. All of them engage learners, help them to develop their subject understanding, and value the voice of the learner as well as that of the teacher. From the Author:
`This deceptively simple strategy transforms the way learners engage in their lessons and promotes more effective teaching, learning and assessment in science.'
