Review:
This is the second book on this subject produced by this publisher. The first book covered the design and development of the aircraft, this volume deals with the A380 showing itself to future customers and aviation enthusiast. Only with such close contact can this unbelivable aeroplane be appreciated. Adding to the interest was the fact that customers were treated to the sight of it in the respective airline colours - the modern method of using stick - on insignia making this possibe. the book is divided into three sections, entitled 'First Flights and Preliminary Tests','Air Shows and VIP Tours' and 'Final Tests and Passenger Flights'. This is basically a picture book containing nearly 200 colour photogrpahs of this aircraft in flight or on the ground. One of the attractions in modern commercial aircraft, particularly to modellers, is the immaculate presentation and highly decorative colour schemes which many of them have. The larger the aircraft, the greater the impact of the scheme. As this is the largest airliner in the world, there is no better example than the one decorated in the colours of the United Arab emirates - its quite starteling. it is not just the green, red, and black stripes on the tail and gold lettering on the fuselage, but the massive red area under the fuselage with the words 'Emirates@ that catches the eye. You will find shots of the aircraft in many other schemes, including 'Singapore Airlines','Ethiad Airways'of Abu Dhabi and 'Quantas' amongst others. if you want to see the inside then you are well catered for with shots of the passenger compartments as well as the aircraft filled with test equipment - and of course the cockpit. It is unlikley that you will get a book with better photographs of this leviathan, and it should appeal to all students of commercial aircraft. However, if your interest is purley in modelling then it is doubtfull if any manufacturer would go beyond 1/144th - larger than that, and you would have to live in an aircraft hanger! --Model Aircraft Monthley
From the Back Cover:

The audacious Airbus A380 is the largest airliner in the world, capable of carrying between five hundred and eight hundred passengers, depending on class configuration. The superjumbo is almost 240 feet long, with a wingspan just over 260 feet. This superbly written and photographed book follows the Airbus A380 from its birthplace in Toulouse, France, to its first public appearance at the world-famous Paris Air Show . . . and beyond. Airbus A380 gives aviation enthusiasts a VIP tour of the A380’s first two years, a series of tests and air shows spanning the globe. Winging its way through thirty-five events in eighteen countries across six continents, the A380 endures a –45°F deep freeze in Iqaluit, Canada, a scorching 113°F in El Ain, United Arab Emirates, and every testable condition in between. As the A380 is put through its paces, author David Maxwell captures all the action—on the ground, in the air, and behind the scenes—in stunning photography showcasing the state-of-the-art design and sheer size of this outrageous new superjumbo.
