The characters he describes in the course of his memoir range from the cowardly and incompetent to the eccentric and valient. Five Years, Four Fronts is a frank and direct account of one man's life in the German army during World War II. Spanning four fighting fronts over five years, it describes a German army that many will be surprised existed.

About the Author:

The late GEORG GROSSJOHANN enlisted in the Reichswehr from his hometown in East Prussia in 1928 as a soldier bound for twelve years service to the Weimar Republic. His World War II service began as an NCO in the Polish campaign and ended as a regimental commander. In between he earned the Iron Cross and other awards for bravery on the battlefield.
