About the Author
Ray Bradbury (22 August 1920 - 5 June 2012) published some 500 short stories, novels, plays and poems since his first story appeared in Weird Tales when he was twenty years old. Among his many famous works are 'Fahrenheit 451,' 'The Illustrated Man,' and 'The Martian Chronicles.'

Reprint (ninth impression). 192pp. and black and white story header drawings by Joe Mugnaini. Ray Douglas Bradbury (1920-2012) was an American author and screenwriter, probably best known for his works of fantasy and science fiction. The present book is an anthology of 22 short stories, first published by Doubleday & Company in 1953, and is his third published collection of short stories. The book's title is also the title of the final story in the collection, and the words "the golden apples of the sun" are from the last line of the final stanza of W. B. Yeats' poem "The Song of Wandering Aengus" (1899). The book is bound in the original red boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with a touch of fading at both spine ends. Some foxing to the edges. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the top corner of the front free endpaper that has been covered with a piece of lined white paper. The dustwrapper is very good with light shelf wear and light bumping to the bottom of the spine. The top of the spine is more heavily bumped. The front flap has not been price clipped although a previous owner has tried to erase the printed price and this has caused a little damage.
