Andrew Wickens
The study of the brain and how it produces behaviour (Biopsychology) is an area which many students find both challenging and fascinating. This text introduces Biopsychology to the beginner by adopting a friendly and uncomplicated writing style that makes the book readable and accessible.
Biopsychology is one of the fastest growing areas in science and to enable the student to understand this subject more fully, each chapter covers the historical developments of the topic before looking at the latest research and its implications. Special interest boxes are also used to highlight how areas of Biopsychology relate to broader issues. In addition, each chapter also includes 20 multiple choice questions (along with answers) which allows the student to directly test their knowledge and understanding of the text as well as providing an excellent aid for revision.
* a readable and concise introduction to the essentials of Biopsychology
* an emphasis on showing how the understanding of the brain has developed
* special interest boxes to help stimulate wider thought and debate (e.g. Are Benzodiazepines really addicting? The Human Genome project)
* multiple choice questions to enable the student to directly test their own knowledge
