The Globe Inn in Slathwaite, Kirklees, Huddersfield was built in 1872. It was originally called The Silent, or Quiet, Woman. It became The Globe in the 1850's (or possibly even by the 1820's). In the 1970's the name reverted to The Silent Woman. This black and white photograph shows a football team associated with the pub standing outside flanked by the manager and medic. It is undated but the clothing would suggest late19th or early 20th centuries. Size of photograph: 15.5 x 20 cms. Size of mount: 20 x 25 cms. Condition: Very Good.The mount is damaged at the edges. I assume it was cut down rather crudely at some point to fit a frame. There is a tear at the base that just reaches the base of the photograph itself. The white boarder of the image is slightly grubby. The photograph is superficially scratched but otherwise in good shape. The inked writing on the reverse is original. Seller Inventory # 001280
