About this Item
Autograph letter signed, 2pp. 8vo, 12 February [1945]. "I am fearfully sorry to have to turn down the film commentary: I should have loved to have done it, and it would have been a joy to work with somebody I admire as boundlessly as yourself, but alas, the heavy military role which I am now playing forbids everything . . ." But maybe he will get some leave later in the year. Marshall had developed a writing and broadcasting career while teaching pre-war at Oundle; he served in intelligence during the Second World War, ending it as a lieutenant-colonel on the staff of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Nicolas Bentley was working on films and publications for the Ministry of Information. Seller Inventory # 28M100325
