This 10.5 x 14.0 inch folded four-panel, four-page newspaper is titled ?The Town and Stage? on page two, showing J. F. Brown as publisher at 532 Clay Street, San Francisco, California - - and with the mast-head on the front page showing ?Town and Stage.? This four-page newspaper is in at least very good and probably near fine condition with just a touch of age-toning to the very edges but in remarkably nice condition for its nearly 150 years. This piece has weathered the drift of time possibly because of its paper-fiber content as it seems to be of a different paper texture than wood fiber, although this is uncertain. This paper is filled with write-ups and brief advertisements for stage and music productions in San Francisco with just one front-page advertisement for the Alhambra Theater, W. H. Smith as sole proprietor - - heralding ?Last Week of the Zavitowsky Sisters - the Great Lauri Troupe.? The pages all show numerous small advertisements for San Francisco with accompanying three primary columns featuring extended commentary on productions and entertainment around the area.
