About this Item
Signed Piece of Paper by Helen Shipton C1900. Undated. (1857-1945) Helen Shipton was born in 1857 in Barlow, Derbyshire, the daughter of the Rev. George Shipton, the vicar of Barlow and later Brampton. With her connection with the latter, Shipton became friends with fellow authors Charlotte Yonge and Christabel R. Coleridge (with whom she co-authored a novel). Relatively late in life, in 1902, she married schoolmaster Arthur Edward Patrick Voules. Together, the couple operated Birdhurst Lodge school in Croyden. In the twentieth century, Shipton authored a handful of plays. She died in 1945 in Croyden. Size 105mm x 25mm Condition is very good. Mounted on card. More images can be taken upon request.
