About this Item
A guide to "Going Steady" for teens, penned by a Jesuit Priest in the interest of reinforcing Catholic morals in America's young people. The author does not hesitate to state his own personal opinion on the subject, as well: "Frankly the idea of high-school people going steady makes me a little ill" (p. 13). Warns against the related sins, especially for girls, noting that they may find themselves "soiled for the future" (p. 15). An entertaining (disturbing?) look for modern readers into expectations for Catholic teens c.1941. Single vol. (6" by 3.25"), pp. 20, [2], illus., original printed wrps. "The Queen's Work was founded by Jesuits of the Missouri Province, specifically at the bequest of Jesuit General Father, Francis Xavier Wernz, and the Missouri Province leadership in the persons of Alexander J. Burrowes and Edward Garesche, to provide 'a journal of national character "which would '[publish] articles of interest to all Catholics." (jesuitarchives.org). Near-fine. Toning with a couple nicks to edges of wrappers. Seller Inventory # 23001809
