Silas Weir Mitchell (1829-1914) was a surgeon in the Union Army during the Civil War and specialized in the treatment of nervous disorders. He was also a prolific author of both poetry and fiction. In this short note he states: "Dear Mrs. Billard come & see me Monday 9 to 12 say 11 Am Yrs. SWM". Written on a 3" x 4" card imprinted: "S. Weir Mitchell 1524 Walnut Street [Phila.]". Condition: Some mounting remnants on verso, otherwise very good. Seller Inventory # A00963
