About this title:

Synopsis: This work concentrates on the future of women in employment, provides insight into those mothers who stay at home to raise their families before returning to their jobs, confirm and expand data on the use of close relations as child careers, and consider the psychological effects on mothers staying at home to raise their families. In pursuit of the above, questionnaires were circulated to what was considered as opportunist sample of mothers who were known either through the crèches, churches, mothers and toddler groups etc. In each of their locations, mothers as well as close relations/minders were interviewed. The interview served to facilitate a full explanation of the purposes of the research and to emphasize the importance to the study of obtaining accurate information. Information was sought in respect of: -working Mothers -Close Relation/minders as Careers -Non-working Mothers The findings of the study provided some support for previous research in respect of the role of women in employment, the attitude of society towards women, the consequence of these to women generally and did highlight possible areas for further research.
