"An important book in the history of physiological optics in which Fontana (1730-1805) described the lymphatic vessels in the crystalline lens, confirmed Haller and Caldani in associating the pupillary reflex with the reactions of the retina to light, and noted the effect of cerebral excitement upon the dilation of the pupil.
