Chapman (Sydney, Australia) 9 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches tall green paper-covered boards over cloth spine, ix, 64pp. + index + 11 full-page plates with descriptions on facing page. Boards faded, stained and edgeworn, with chipping to edges. Foxing to endpapers. Bumping to lower tip of book. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. ~WW~ Contents: Introduction; Description of the Genera and Species - Class Actinozoa, Order Zoantharia, Section A Rugosa (Zaphrentidae / Cyathophyllidae / Clisiophyllidae), Section B Perforata (Favositidae / Syringoporidae / Auloporidae), Order Monticuliporoidea, Family Monticuliporidae, Genus Stenopora. All coelenterates are aquatic, mostly marine. The bodyform is radially symmetrical. The body has a single opening hypostome surrounded by sensory tentacles equipped with either nematocysts or collobasts to capture mostly planktonic prey. These tentacles surround a spacious cavity called the gastrovascular cavity or coelenteron. Digestion is both intracellular and extracellular.
