Offprint: 'Ergebnisse der physiologie', vol. 51, pp. (299)-430, 1961. 8 vo. Orig. printed wrappers. The COPY of the Nobel laureate, George Wald (1906-97), with his ownership signature on the front wrapper and his extensive notes labeled "Eccles 1961 - Neg. feedback" on a folded laid in sheet. Wald shared the 1967 Nobel prize for physiology or medicine with Hartline and Granit for his fundamental work on the chemistry of vision, see: G-M 1532, 1534, & 1535. A very good copy. J.C. Eccles (1903-97) shared the 1963 Nobel prize in physiology or medicine with Hodgkin and Huxley for work on conduction in the central nervous system. The present monograph is Eccles' important comprehensive review of synaptic transmission, just before the awarding of the Nobel prize, replacing his previous greatly out-dated review of 1936 for 'Ergebnisse der Physiologie'.
