About this Item
Three adjacent sheets, colour printed on paper 74x58, 70x60, 79x60cm, labelled in the Cyrillic alphabet, compiled 1978-9, and published 1979. Very good, folded, lightly creased. Two key diagrams locate each sheet, and demarcate administrative divisions. These were issued as part of the major global mapping programme by the Military Topographic Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR, during 1950-90. Maps comply with International Map of the World standards, with each quadrangle on a 1:1,000,000 scale identified by lettered bands and numbered zones. Sources are not named, but for the wider series included a mix of existing maps and guidebooks, the Zenit Satellite Programme (from the 1960s), and "boots on the ground".
