About this Item
Two colour maps printed on either side of one sheet 46x81cm, folding down into panels attractively colour illustrated by Boonlert 11x23cm. Lithographed in the USA. Very good with creasing to one edge, and a couple of short closed fold tears. Captioned and labelled in English and Thai, this was prepared by Rand McNally for the Standard Vacuum Oil Company (Mobiloil / Mobilgas). Dating to the Sarit Thanarat era, this shows Thailand before it introduced its first systematic highway development programme in 1962. The Thailand map on a scale of approx 1cm to 24km features different types of roads (main, secondary, other) distinguishing whether they are paved, not paved, under construction, or proposed; railroads; airports; international and provincial boundaries, with a distance chart. The Bangkok and Thonburi Street Map on a scale of approx 5cm to 1km features points of interest, parks, principal buildings, and Standard-Vacuum Service Stations. Scarce. Worldcat also records later editions dated c1960, 1962 and 1965. Seller Inventory # 4715
