An Abadan Crisis era chart, following the nationalisation of Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC) in 1951, predating the overthrow of Iranian PM Mohammed Mosaddegh on 19 August 1953. B/w chart printed on heavy paper 103x70cm. Good, folded, lightly creased and marked with "Da non usare per la navigazione" stamps to recto(not obscuring image), ink stamped in Italian, and marked to verso. First published on 21 October 1926, this edition is dated 3 July 1953 with no subsequent small corrections indicated. Natural scale 1:25,000. This shows Abadan in detail including the layout of streets, the location of the AIOC, Bungalow Area, Seamen's Institute, cemetery, docks, notice boards, prohibited anchorage, police, pipeline, etc. Haji Salbuq to its west is shown with "Date and fruit gardens, intersected by numerous creeks". At Khorramshahr is shown the British Consulate, AIOC buildings, tombs, etc. Other major landmarks include the Palace of the Sheikh of Muhammara, Mubarrak House, court house, customs house, towers, railway line to Ahwaz, and numerous trees distinguished by height, type, colouring etc. A large inset for Karun Bar, natural scale 1/12,500, shows Khorramshahr and the area to its south.
