About this Item
B/w chart 104x72cm. Neatly folded but fair only, with wear along some folds, closed tears, and annotation. First published on 27 Feb 1931, with small corrections up to 1964. The main map, natural scale 1/750,000, presents the Yemen / Oman coast from Ras al Kalb to Jabal Nus beyond Marbat, with numerous settlements and geographical features named, among them Qishn, Ras Fartak, Salalah and the Dhufar Plain. Two inset maps show Bandar Risut 1/12,100 (features include an ancient burial ground), and Qishn Bay 1/60,500. The annotation is interesting, drawing in the PDR Yemen / Oman border, a little to the east of which is a rough pencil sketch of what appears to be a mosque or tomb, and directly below which is drawn a vessel off the coast at Hauf, perhaps marking the point from which this building was observed. A number of coastal settlements have been added in pencil or ink. Seller Inventory # 5279
