Contemp. cloth-backed, marbled boards. xv, (1), 338, (1,errata) pp. Half-title strengthened and first few leaves guarded, light waterstaining of inside margins of beginning and end leaves; still, a good to very good copy. O.E. Meyer (1834-1909), the brother of Lothar (see above), was professor of physics at Breslau. He contributed important experimental work to the modern kinetic theory of gases, and here in his classic historical study, reviewed the development of the theory through Joule, Clausius, and Maxwell.
