Quarto (10 1/2" x 7") bound in original publisher's leatherette binding with gilt lettering on spine in original pictorial jacket. First edition. The chemist Gerard d'Hooghe constructed in the fifties of the 20th century, a machine, with the help of which he illustrated the "Springer" problem. A "Springer" tour around any starting point around. At the Leipzig Chess Olympiad in 1960, his automat "t'Zeepaard" was shown to the public. The present edition contains the illustrations of the basics for the automaton. Condition: Corners and edges bumped.
